Check the prevailing Dew Point in your Area. If the Dew Point is 55 Degrees or more Evaporative Cooling will not work to its potential. We do not shut them off if that is the only cooling available, however, they will just not keep you as comfortable as you would prefer. To find the Dew Point in your area click on your favorite weather site and put in your City and State for present readings.

If you do not have a favorite site for the USA try: http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/Dewpoint.html

If you do not have a favorite site for the Europe try:
http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/eu/Dewpoint.html

Note the Dew Point Colors; If your area is in the Yellow, Green or Blue Evaporative Cooling will work normal as it is below 55 Degrees. At the top of the linked page you may put your City and State in for accurate readings. You can then get the history for the Dew Point in your area by looking below the statistics to the Historical Section and click several dates for a good overview of Dew Point. You will notice that as the day heats up the Dew Point will often drop below the higher levels. By using the Historical Section you will have a good idea of the average Dew Point in your area to see which months are best for Evaporative Cooling or if Evaporative Cooling is a good option for you.

You can check the Continental USA Map or World Map to see if your location is considered suitable for Evaporative Cooling.
