A Battery Driven Portable System cannot be compared with an Engine driven Car Air Conditioning. Therefore we always recommend you repair your existing A/C or install an engine driven after-market Car Air Conditioning System.

If, however, these suggestions are not possible, then you may consider an Alternative Cooling System like an Car Evaporative Cooler MW1 MightyKool Model (upper right) using water only might be your choice in the dry climates of the World, however not in humid areas. If your area is typically Humid then an Ice Water Model Vehicle Air Conditioning System like the MK3 (upper left) might be your choice.

Normally a Flex Hose Kit would not needed for sleeping like in Boats, Campers, Truck Sleepers, etc. However if you wished to cool more than one area a Flex Hose Kit could be very valuable.

One of the differences between an car Air Conditioning System like the MK3 and an Car Evaporative Cooler like the MW1 are the methods used to produce cool air. Car Evaporative Cooling has cool air that feels like an Ocean Breeze & uses Water only. An Car Air Conditioning System has dry cool air like you feel in Vehicle Air Conditioning & uses Ice along with Water. People in dry climates generally prefer the feel of Car Evaporative Cooling and those in humid areas generally must choose an Car Air Conditioning System.

A Portable Car Air Conditioning System or Evaporative Cooler is preferred if installing an after market Car Air Conditioning System is not possible. Also if repairing an factory installed Car Air Conditioning System is not possible, then you may consider an Alternative. Portable Cooling Alternatives can be moved from vehicle to vehicle and will provide relief for one or two people while providing no strain on the engine and, of course, your money.

1. How Large an Area will a Portable Device cool?

Seems like a logical question, however Portable Cooling Systems are typically designed for Spot Cooling, not area cooling. We do not know if the area to be cooled is well insulated or if it is cool to begin with or if there is enough power and other resources to maintain a full power-on situation. It does not matter if you are using a Portable Cooling System in an auditorium or a phone booth. Size does not make any difference because you will place the Portable device where you need it! That is the advantage of Portable Systems.

Now that I have used the unit for a few days I wanted to get back in touch with you. Yes, I am pleased with the MW1 MightyKool. It is not air Conditioning, but is a big step up from the heat of stop and go traffic and the noise of driving down the freeway with the windows down all the way. It sits on the passenger seat next to me on the box it shipped in. I think it makes the cabin feel like it's in the mid 80 degree range, certainly not like A/C, but far more tolerable. I would recommend this unit to anyone with a situation similar to mine. Old car, driving alone, and a steep repair bill to fix the A/C. Thanks, J. G. Denver, CO.

I thank you for your speed and quality of distribution. I received my ICESTER AC12 (Ice water Model) this morning. I installed it in my (VW) Golf to test this strange object… I did not put the quantity of ice (approximately 8kgs) necessary to the correct operation but just some refills for a short test. One gallon (3.75 liters) of water will last around two to three hours in the daytime and four to five hours during the night when used for evaporative cooling in dry desert climates. The "Ice Water" models are capable of using from 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) up to 20 pounds (9.0 kilograms) of ice per hour, or more, depending on the ambient temperature and day or night operation.

A 105 Deep Cycle battery, "not being charged", allow the MW1, MW2 to operate for 50 to 80 hours and the "Ice Water" models like the MK3, MK4, MAC & M400 will operate for 25 to 35 hours before the battery needs charging. The Swampy Models will operate about 8 hours before the battery would need charging as they draw more energy.
